Title I Academic Achievement Award

Title1_CircleLogo.gifBroadway is proud to be one of eight LAUSD schools to receive the Title I Academic Achievement Award for 2012–2013. This is the second consecutive year Broadway has celebrated this achievement. The California Department of Education honored 56 California schools with this award on May 13, 2013. As the qualification criteria become more rigorous each year, fewer schools meet the targets to receive the award. Broadway students and staff deserve this high honor for their hard work.

English Program Now Enrolling

Broadway is now accepting kindergarten enrollment for both the Spanish Immersion Program and the English Program for the 2013–2014 school year. Our new, two-way, dual-language Spanish Immersion Program will utilize a 50/50 model. Parents interested in the English Program may call the school office for enrollment details.

Logo_LAUSD.gifLAUSD Update: Instructional Program Plans for 2013–14 at Broadway Elementary
On Wednesday, April 10, the LAUSD announced the following plans for the instructional programs at Broadway Elementary School for the 2013–14 school year:
 

  • The Spanish Immersion Program will begin year one of the program
    with two kindergarten classes.
  • An additional administrator will be hired to oversee the Spanish Immersion Program and the resident school program.
  • The Mandarin Immersion Program will continue to grow the program. There will be three kindergarten classes allocated for the upcoming school year.
  • Two Special Day Classes will be located at Westminster ES instead of Broadway ES for the upcoming school year.
  • Parents who wish to enroll their kindergarten aged children in a non-immersion language program will be referred to Westminster Elementary School for the upcoming school year.

Mandarin Immersion Program Flourishes
at L.A. School

Broadway Elementary in Venice launched the effort to boost enrollment. The plan worked so well the principal is concerned that dual-language learners will outnumber students in regular classes.
